Support our Work

There are many ways to support the work we do. These range from becoming a member - to volunteering to help us in one of our projects - to simply donating using the Easy Fundraising method.

Please consider doing what you can – together we are better!

The more members EDG has the more support we have to pursue our mission of inclusion and social justice in Edinburgh and beyond. Your support matters when the organisation is battling to secure funding and resources to enable us to continue our work. We are always keen to welcome new members be they people with learning difficulties, parents or carers, professionals or just interested community folk. It costs nothing to join. Simply download the Application Form here and return to us at EDG.

As a member of EDG you will receive our regular Newsletter and be invited to participate in our Annual General Meeting and other events which we organise.

Advisory Group

advisory

EDG’s Advisory Group is for members who wish to be actively involved in shaping the work the team undertakes. Members of this group have regular meetings with the Chief Executive and staff members at EDG but also actively engage in the work which might include attending conferences and training courses as well as discussing and helping design new developments with Team members.

We are therefore looking for disabled people and people with learning difficulties who are activists who want to help EDG make a real difference. If you think you might be interested please contact EDG to discuss with one of the Team.

Be a Part of a Big Plan

One of the most exciting and rewarding kinds of work EDG does is the Big Plan. The Big Plan works with people with learning difficulties and others, their families and friends - to explore their gifts and dreams. We then work out together where in the community these gifts, passions and dreams may be most valued and welcomed.

In order to make the Big Plan work – we need ordinary community members to enlist as volunteer ‘Group Supporters’ – to work alongside individuals and their families and to bring the community into the Big Plan sessions. If you would like to find out more download the ‘Group Supporter Job Specification’  here and give us a call to discuss what commitment is required.

Friends of EDG

The Friends of EDG meet several times a year in an informal setting to support the work EDG does by getting actively involved in fundraising initiatives such as the famous EDG Ceilidh. Anyone can join this group just contact the EDG office to find out when the next meeting is.
